Last month, at the prompting of an entry of Kyle’s and also a blog I read about things you can do to cut down on waste (one of them being the use of refillable fountain pens instead of disposables), I purchased a Lamy Safari fountain pen and the refillable converter, probably my first in many years. At one point I was purchasing disposable fountain pens, but this Lamy Safari is light years beyond that.
I’ve been used to pens where you have to press hard to get it to write, or the ink globs sometimes. The ink on this is smooth and flows without effort. The only thing I have to be careful of is that I don’t drag my hand through it, being left handed and all.
My gorgeous bottle of black ink arrived today and it pleases me to use these utensils which have effectively not changed in many years. The manual nature of refilling this pen, of pulling ink into it, feeling it flow as I write pleases me.
