I’m a married, have-a-day-job-but-work-from-home nerd living in central Texas.
My dream for my life is to live on our land as self-sustainably as possible and to be a farmer with chickens, pigs, cows, horses, dogs, etc. I want to be grid-free and grow most of my own food. I like to can, build things with wood (though I’m a novice), vegetable garden, watch my chicken TV in the backyard and go shooting. I like to cook and I’ve been doing a lot of local, grass-raised meat and dairy and have been trying my hand at culturing dairy and vegetables. I’m crazy about roadside americana and useless facts. All sorts of music makes the soundtrack to my life.
This journal a chronicle of my almost-never-a-dull-moment life, right now pertaining to the transition from living in the ‘burbs to moving an hour from any decently sized supermarket, cupcakery or tea shop. There’s likely to be recipes, lots of pictures, random bits of this and that. I tend to keep myself busy doing things and I like to share them.

An explanation of the name: My friend Andrei once worked where I went to college. He had a white board that was begging for something on it. So I wrote “Hi Pookiebutt, Love Schnookiemuffin” and it stayed on there until he left that job some time later. The names, by then, had stuck. That and anything else I wanted was already taken.
