It’s been a challenging couple of months. Since joining the local volunteer fire department late last year, I’ve been spending the last 6 Saturdays in class for an Emergency Medical Responder class that has kept me in a constant state of feeling like my head might explode. Due to various circumstances, our final test in class [...] I suppose this is akin to my Best Moments of the Week lists, but a blogger at Bless Her Heart posted about here 30 days of a grateful heart and it sounded like a good idea. I’ve been posting one thing a day over on Facebook, but I figured I’d collect them here for posterity [...] Summer is in full swing and we’ve been constantly busy here. Garden We had to just stop watering the cucumbers, they were producing so much and we couldn’t keep up (they were starting to look ratty anyways, so it was time). [...] Oh wow, it’s been a while since I’ve updated about the garden though it’s been in full swing for quite some time. The pumpkins (left front) have been taking over to the point that we had to cut off several of the tendrils because they were overtaking the watermelons and climbing through the fence. There are [...] Flow Last week I got a package in the mail, a big box from the seed company. I had ordered several things that were shipped just-in-time for planting so I thought from the big heavy box that perhaps it was my sweet potatoes. I set the box on my porch and figured I would deal with it [...] It’s been a busy couple of weeks. My sister came in for a visit and I spent the latter part of the week before last trying to get everything prepared for taking a week of vacation while she’s here. I pre-made several dinner options (she’s vegetarian) and had them frozen and ready (spinach chickpea masala, pumpkin [...] This is what this really looks like This week we prepped several beds by pulling weeds, adding composted manure and DE and tilling. We planted: - heirloom tomatoes (along with some cherry and grape tomatoes) Somehow, I’ve made it through the last couple of weeks, but it’s kind of been a blur. The cow is still unwell, I’m having the vet do cultures and blood tests to figure out what’s wrong. After talking with my dairy friends, we’ve moved the donkeys into the smaller paddock for the time being so that [...] Last Friday was Hubs and my anniversary. It hasn’t been long, but the last year for sure has been quite a wild ride. I couldn’t have imagined where I would be this year. My life took a complete 180 when we moved out here and now I’ve got calf milk replacer, teat dip and cow [...] |
